"Thank you, Lodi's Docent"
"Alane's walking tour brought Lodi's history to life, weaving together what we see today with clues found in historic buildings and literally the stories bricks can tell. She revealed secrets under our feet and layers of cultural history placed in the context of American and world history."
-Jill Lipka “Fall in love with this quaint Central Valley community. It is not difficult to catch the images of this once-bustling downtown... Alane's tours enliven the historic positives of this city.” -Sylvia Sun Minnick, M.A., Author of SAMFOW: The San Joaquin Chinese Legacy and Stockton’s Crown Jewel: The Bob Hope/Fox California. "I want to express my appreciation for a thoroughly enjoyable and informative visit back-in-time to the early days of our city of Lodi. I've lived here since 1994 and was amazed to realize how little I knew about the historical buildings, the colorful early settlers, and the events that helped shape who we are to this day. Your walking tour and historical photos were well presented and really brought the stories to life." -Carolyn Ross "The Lodi Docent, dressed in her 1920s attire, knows her history and tells about it with love for Lodi. A walk down Pine Street will never be the same for me again." -Nancy Mellor "I greatly enjoyed the details she gave me about several buildings and the tunnel underground between the Lodi Hotel and the original Opera/Theater house. Having a nationally recognized local suffragette was also quite interesting. Bringing the old photos and comparing them to current day was fascinating. I barely noticed time passing, her presentation was so engaging." -Andrei Pischalnikoff "I left the tour wanting to explore downtown Lodi with new eyes and appreciate the Lodi Historical Society's efforts to highlight important and interesting stories in Lodi's past, especially in such a fun and interactive way." -Jill Ludin "A heartfelt thanks to the tour guide for her valuable dedication in helping us uncover the treasures of our heritage and inspiring us to think ahead for the betterment of our community." -Sandra Vargas "We love your costume! Thank you so much for helping to educate the voters of today and tomorrow." -Andrea and the Lodi Girl Scouts |
